How to choose an interior designer: a practical checklist
BizWebMart Team – 26 Sep 2026 – Interior Designers
A good interior designer saves you money and stress; a poor choice costs both. Use this checklist before you sign.
1. Look at completed projects, not renders
3D renders show what a designer can draw. Photos of finished homes show what they can deliver. Ask for two or three addresses you can visit or clients you can call.
2. Get the scope in writing
The quotation should list every item – carcass material, shutter finish, hardware brand, false-ceiling area, electrical points and painting – so that you can compare quotes like for like.
3. Agree on payment stages
Link payments to milestones such as design sign-off, material delivery, installation and handover. Avoid paying most of the amount upfront.
4. Ask about warranty and after-sales
Modular kitchens and wardrobes usually come with a warranty on hardware and carcass. Note what is covered and for how long.
5. Fix the timeline
Ask for a written schedule and how delays are handled. A dedicated site supervisor makes a big difference.
